TGI Fridays history.
In 1965 the first TGI Friday’s restaurant opened in New York City at the corner of First Avenue and 63rd Street. In the first year of the store opening it generated $1 million dollars in revenue. By 1984 the chain of TGI's grows to 105 restaurant's with in the United States. In 1985 TGI Friday’s restaurant chain celebrates its 20th anniversary. TGI Friday’s Inc. signs their first international development agreement with Whitbread & Co. PLC of London. In 1986 the TGI Friday's chain goes international and opens its first store in the United Kingdom, Birmingham, England. Karen Forrester CEO of TGI Friday's in the UK says that she is planning to open another 8 restaurants in the year 2014 taking the totally number of restaurants in the UK to 69. This is part of her plan to take the restaurant to a totally of 120 in the UK by 2020. TGI Friday's has 900+ franchised stores worldwide and is still growing.
